Defining Success
Success is ever more difficult in the present changing professional environment. Some of the questions that don’t let us sleep well are:
– What can I do to get my next promotion?
– Is my job safe?
– What kind of uncertainty will I face when I switch jobs?
– Is it better to start a new business or should I start a side-hustle?
No Progression Without Change
Unless you decide to take change upon yourself, you will never be safe from the professional pressures. Change could take any of the following shapes:
– Undergoing training to absorb new skills is most common way of enhancing professional prospects.
– An MBA or a Masters’ degree can elevate your professional profile and give you access to a new network.
– There is nothing wrong with seeking a higher salary or a better boss. But this opportunity comes with its own risks.
– You could monetise your skills by starting a side-hustle and create a financial cushion in case you and your job part ways.
– Being a business owner is an enticing option, albeit a very difficult one. It needs tonnes of preparation and litres of blood!
– If you have been running at a certain pace, shifting to a higher gear and delivering bigger results can change you into a superstar!
